11 Best Scimitars in Old School RuneScape

Slim, strong, and, um, curvy?

Some of the best weapons in the game are scimitars, which have strong slash effects and fast attack speeds.

If a RuneScape player is interested in fighting, they will probably use a scimitar at some point.

So it’s important to know which one will beat out the rest.

So take a look at the scimitars I think are the best in all the land.

11. Starter Sword

The Starter Sword is one of the more unique Scimitars. It is actually a shortsword, but it is considered a Scimitar and has the same stats as the previous entry. With this tool, there’s no doubt that you’ll stand out.

It doesn’t matter what level you are to use it, so getting one can help you get through early fighting skills quickly.

The fact that it can’t be used in PvP is a big downside, but that’s okay because you just want to use it to level up.

How to get: During the yearly Deadman Mode, get a melee crate.

10. Mithril Scimitar

Strength makes up for the fact that there aren’t many stab/slash boosts.

The Mithril Scimitar is a powerful weapon with an attack requirement of 20, and it is also very cheap, making it easy to get.

You will probably use this Scimitar for a while as you level up your fighting skills.

How to get it, you need to have a Smithing skill of 55. You can buy it at the Grand Exchange, Daga’s Scimitar Smithy, or Zeke’s Superior Scimitars. Also comes from a Mystery Box. This item is also often dropped by Vampyre Juvinates.

9. Black Scimitar

With such a low attack requirement, the Black Scimitar should be used as soon as possible, especially since it’s so cheap to get.

Even though 4 extra slash bonuses over the previous entry doesn’t sound like much, it makes a huge difference in the early rounds.

How to get it: This Scimitar is dropped by gangsters and gang bosses. You can also find it in King Lathas’ Castle, but you need a 61-level stealing skill to get there. You can also get it at the Grand Exchange.

8. Adamant Scimitar

Best Scimitars

Providing a huge bonus boost across the board, an Adamant Scimitar should be equipped as soon as you meet the attack requirement.

Such stats allow high DPS due to the innate attack speed of Scimitars, you’ll have no problem taking down bosses with this weapon!

Grand Exchange Price: 2903

Attack Requirement: 30

Stab Bonus: 6

Slash Bonus: 29

Strength Bonus: 28

How to obtain: Craft it with a Smithing level of 75 or buy it from the Grand Exchange . Plenty of monsters drop this item, see the full list on the wikia.

7. Cleaver

Classed as a Kitchen Weapon, it has a severely reduced weight over other Scimitars.

Although the Cleaver has the same melee stats as the previous 2 entries, it is better overall for the reduced weight and reasonable cost.

Grand Exchange Price: 20,700

Attack Requirement: 40

Stab Bonus: 7

Slash Bonus: 45

Strength Bonus: 44

How to obtain: Buy it from the Culinaromancer’s chest. Completion of the Recipe for Disaster quest is required to even wield this weapon.

6. Steel Scimitar

Don’t look at this Scimitar as the 10th best, see it as the 3rd worst. At very low levels, it’ll be your go-to weapon to train your attack skill.

Low damage stats mean you’ll want to move on as soon as possible though. It won’t take you long to reach the attack requirement for the next Scimitar!

Grand Exchange Price: 64

Attack Requirement: 5

Stab Bonus: 3

Slash Bonus: 15

Strength Bonus: 14

How to obtain: Craft it with a Smithing level of 35. Buy it from the Grand Exchange or Zeke’s Superior Scimitars.

5. Rune Scimitar

First on our list is the Rune Scimitar, which is the best Scimitar in its spot in Free-to-Play.

This weapon has a good +45 slash bonus, and many people think it’s the best weapon in F2P in terms of damage per second (DPS).

It’s also one of the oldest weapons in the game, having been added to the first version of RuneScape in 2001.

You need to be level 40 in Attack to use this tool. But the hard work is well worth it.

How to Get: With 90 Smithing and two rune bars, you can make this, or you can kill Fire Giants, which often drop it. A lot of Ironmen who want to get their first Rune Scimitar kill Fire Giants.

4. Gilded Scimitar

The Gilded Scimitar is another free-to-play weapon that has the same stats as the Rune Scimitar.

But there are two big differences.

First, this Gilded Scimitar is completely made of gold.

And second, it’s worth a whopping 17m, making it one of the most expensive things in all of F2P!

This is often used in F2P risk fights in the woods because of how valuable it is.

And I mean, a 17m risk is no joke.

How to Get It: As a member, you can only get this from an elite or master hint chest. It only drops about once every 20k times. You can also buy this from the Grand Exchange if you are not a member.

3. Brine Sabre

Here’s another Scimitar requiring only level 40 in attack, and also a pretty nice hitter.

This weapon is marginally better than the Rune Scimitar with a slash bonus of +47, two higher than the Rune Scimitar.

But this weapon is popular amongst pures, as it’s the best in slot level 40 attack weapon – meaning that it’s still commonly traded and well worth the 150k price tag to these players.

It’s also one of the only weapons capable of killing Lobstrosities in OSRS.

How to Get: Brine rats are the only monsters that drop the Brine Sabre, and it’s required that you at least start “Olafs Quest” to gain access to them.

2. Dragon Scimitar

The Dragon Scimitar is a truly powerful weapon, requiring Level 60 attack and the completion of Monkey Madness I to wield.

This iconic weapon has a decent slash bonus of +67, pushing it far ahead of the other scimitars on this list so far.

“Sever” is the special attack of the d-scim, which prevents your foes from using overhead protection prayer for 5 seconds.

While this is not the most useful special, it can be used in PvP in niche situations.

This is also one of the best single-handed training weapons in OSRS, especially for strength, and is used by many players – especially ironmen.

How to Get: You can buy this after Monkey Madness I from Daga on Ape Atoll in the marketplace for about 100k. Alternatively, you can buy this on the Grand Exchange.

1. Blade of Saeldor (c)

The Blade of Saeldor is tied with the Inquisitor’s Mace and Ghazi Rapier for the best in slot single handed melee weapon in the whole game.

With a massive +94 slash bonus, this blade can hit extremely hard. Especially when paired with an Avernic defender!

Just note that you’ll need a very high Attack level of 75 to even wield this thing.

The normal version of the Blade of Saeldor degrades with use and must be continuously charged with Crystal Shards, which many players find tiresome (for good reason).

To work around this, you’ll need to upgrade the Blade to its corrupted version (hence the “c” in its name).

To do this you’ll need 1000 Crystal Shards, 82 Crafting, and 82 Smithing.

How to Get: Only dropped from the Gauntlet at a rate of 1/400 for the corrupted version of The Gauntlet, and 1/2000 doing regular Gauntlet.
