15 Best Money Making Methods in OSRS

Money is one of the most important, if not the most important, reasons why people play OSRS.

Money can buy skills, gear, and, most importantly, reputation.

The best things in the game will cost you a lot of money. And everyone is always looking for ways to get more of that money.

So, what are the best ways to earn money quickly in Old School RuneScape?

Most of the best ways are based on fighting, but a few of them are skill-based.

Any way you look at it, let’s break it all down and look at some ways you can save up gp.

15. Mining Rune Ore

Money Making Methods

Members and non-members alike will be able to mine Rune Ore at level 85 mining.

The most expensive ore is rune ore, which sells for 11.8k per ore. So a full stockpile is worth around 330k gold.

Rune Ore can only be mined by non-members in the Wilderness, which can be dangerous because the rune rocks are a popular place for PvP.

Members, on the other hand, can mine rune metal in many different places, which makes the process faster and more efficient.

Whether you’re F2P or not, you can usually expect to make between 400k and 700k gp an hour. This is still a great way to make money, and it’s one of the best free-to-play (F2P) ways to make money (as well as a good P2P way!)

14. Smithing Rune Items

You’ve found a lot of rune ore, but you don’t know what to do with it.

Well, why not smith it if you want to make a lot of money?

When you reach level 85 in smithing, you can start making rune things.

The easiest things to sell on the Grand Exchange are those that are popular in High Alchemy.

At the time this was written, the best choices were rune platelegs, rune skirts, and rune 2h swords.

With this method, you can expect to make about 500k per hour.

This is great for high-level free-to-play smiths, but I also suggest it to pay-to-play players, especially those who want to get to level 99 in smithing while making some extra cash.

13. Zulrah

Zulrah is one of the most famous ways to make money in OSRS.

It is called “the money snake” for a reason.

To get to Zulrah, you must have finished the “Regicide” quest. To avoid its strong attacks, you should also have a high magic level and at least level 45 prayer.

On average, Zulrah’s drops are worth about 100k gp per kill. This means that, depending on your skills and gear, you can make between 1m and 2m an hour.

High-level players can make a lot of money here because it doesn’t take long to kill things and it’s easy to bank and restock with a fully stocked player-owned house.

12. Black Chinchompas

Black Chinchompas live deep in the Wilderness. To catch one, you need to be at least level 80 Hunter. And of all the hunter options in OSRS, they give the most GP per hour.

Since you’ll be in the middle of nowhere, you’ll need some tank gear and a one-click teleport, like a royal seed pod, to get away from Pk’ers.

When playing, you’ll always run into someone who wants to kill you, so make sure you’re ready.

If PvPers don’t attack you too often, you can get between 300 and 480 chins per hour here. This is about $1.2 million in profit per hour!

You will also get a lot of hunter experience, about 150k xp per hour.

11. Chambers of Xeric

Chambers of Xeric was the first raid added to OSRS, and it can be a very successful one.

Because a single Twisted Bow drop is worth more than 1 billion coins.

On average, you should be able to finish about two raids per hour. And how much money you get will rely on how well you play, since more points and fewer deaths mean more money.

A strong, high-level team can each get 30,000 points, which is about $2 million per raid. If you finished a raid with 20,000 points, you could expect to get $1.3 million.

This is the average of all unique drops, since some raids won’t give you any unique drops and others might give you a drop worth 100 million gold.

Note: You’ll need very high battle stats, a lot of PvM experience, and a strong team to do this raid. Here on the wiki, there is also a thorough guide.

10. Eclectic Imps (Medium Clues)

This method is mostly based on luck. But on average, you should make a lot of money from it.

More specifically, this way involves opening electric impling jars and figuring out medium clues that have a 1 in 25 chance of being there. The goal is to get a Ranger boot drop worth 34 million gp.

If you have quests done and teleports open, you should be able to finish 20 medium clues per hour on average.

At this rate, you can expect to make an average of 2.4 million dollars per hour.

If you’re not as good at solving clues and can only do 10 per hour, you could make about 1.2 million per hour.

Most of the other medium clue rewards aren’t worth much, so if you don’t get ranger boots, these profit figures will go down by a lot.

9. Cerberus

Needing at least level 91 Cerberus, the boss of the hellhounds, is Slayer.

Cerberus has a great drop table, which includes the valuable and 25m-worth Primordial Crystal.

Most of the time, killing Cerberus is worth about 85,000 gold pieces, and he is also a fairly easy boss to fight.

Getting a Primordial Crystal or an Eternal Crystal will make a big difference in how much money you make with this way, since Cerberus is hard on your supplies, especially prayer potions because of his special attack.

So you won’t make as much money here without these drops.

I’d say this is a good boss to kill on task, but if you want steady cash, there are better options, like Chambers of Xeric (or keep reading for more!)

8. Corporeal Beast

Corporeal Beast is one of OSRS’s most difficult tasks. And if you beat him, you could win a lot of money!

The Elysian Sigil he drops is worth (no joke) 1.1 billion gold pieces, making it one of the most expensive drops from PvM in OSRS.

The odds of getting a Sigil are 1 in 585, and all of them are worth a lot of money. Corp’s drop table is also very fair because it has a lot of high-value drops.

If we look at the average drop with sigils, it’s about 528k gp. Without sigils, it’s about 120k gp. No matter what, this is still great.

If you kill six people an hour, you could make $2.7 million an hour.

This can go faster if people work together, but they’ll want their share of the drops!

7. Vorkath

Vorkath is a great boss to kill, as long as you’re using a Dragon Hunter Lance or Dragon Hunter Crossbow, since Dragonbane weapons are essential for quick kills here.

You’ll need to have finished Dragon Slayer II and have high battle stats to kill Vorkath. I also think you should have elite void and anti-fire pills if you’re a ranger.

In terms of making money, Vorkath’s drop table is very similar to Zulrah’s, but it gives out much more money.

If you kill 30 people an hour, you can make about 3 million an hour here.

Most of his money comes from his normal drop table. His unique drops just add to this amount. So, farming Vorkath is one of the best ways to make money consistently.

6. Giant Mole

Giant Mole is a very consistent and high-level way to make money, which is amazing considering that you can get to it with very low fighting levels and almost no limits.

So it’s easy to see why this should be at the top of this list.

You can quickly kill the mole and collect its parts by using a full Dharok or a Twisted Bow. This is best done after you have finished the Falador Hard Diary, so you can get parts of the mole that have been recorded and use the Falador shield (3) to track its movements.

With this method, you can expect to make about $800,000 an hour.

And it’s important to note that most of this money comes from the nests they get in trade for mole parts. The rest comes from selling seeds.

5. Hallowed Sepulchre

This is the best way to make money with skills in OSRS, even though it is very hard.

Some people call it the “Inferno” of skilling material because it is so hard.

This material is really only very profitable after you reach Agility level 92 and above, when you can fully loot floors 3, 4, and 5.

Even though all of the drops here are very valuable. And if you work quickly, you can make between 2.5 million and 2.7 million per hour.

You’ll also get some of the best experience for grinding agility here, with about 75k–80k experience per hour.

4. Theatre of Blood

The material in Theatre of Blood is very hard, and only the best teams in OSRS can do it.

About 1 in 11 of the things dropped in this raid are unique, which is where most of the money comes from.

To have a chance of finishing this raid, you’ll need to be very good at PvM, work well as a team, and know everything there is to know about how OSRS ticks work.

Assuming two completions and no deaths per hour, you can expect to make 3.5 million per hour, which is a very high amount.

Drops like the Scythe of Vitur are worth 550m each, so the Theatre of Blood is a very popular way to make quick cash.

3. Corrupted Gauntlet

Most of the things on this list can be done in groups. But the Corrupted Gauntlet can only be done by yourself, which puts all the duty on you.

For this content, you have to take on the Corrupted Hunllef by yourself, which is not an easy task. He is without a doubt one of the most difficult bosses in OSRS.

You have only 7:30 minutes to get ready for the fight, too. You have to get food, liquids, and gear before the time runs out.

The Corrupt Gauntlet does drop high-level items, like the rare Blade of Saeldor, which is worth over 72 million gold pieces.

For a chance at the rewards, you’ll have to finish the gauntlet. If you don’t, you’ll get a “joke” gift that isn’t worth much. But if you can do it all, you can expect to make about $3.5 million per hour. This is especially true if you can do this stuff consistently.

2. Alchemical Hydra

The Alchemical Hydra is the boss with the highest level for Slayers in OSRS. It can only be killed on a job.

But killing him is very satisfying, even if it is a bit boring.

Most of the time, you can get about 25 kills per hour here, which means you make about 175k per kill, or 3.8m per hour.

If we leave out the special drops, the amount would be closer to 110k gp per hour.

But this is a great boss for ironmen to kill because the hydra bones give great prayer experience and a lot of alchemy drops that can be used to boost your cash stack by a lot.

Before you can fight the Hydra, you will need high-level ranged gear and at least level 95 slayer.

1. The Nightmare

As of this writing, our top spot goes to the newest PvM boss in OSRS.

You should fight the Nightmare in a group, and you need a very high fighting level to do so.

But she drops some of the most expensive items in OSRS, like nightmare orbs, which sell for 80m, 250m, and 890m, respectively.

She also drops the Inquisitor’s armor and the Inquisitor’s mace, which are worth between 120m and 520m!

Let’s say there are 5 people on a team that can kill 10 people per hour. There is a 1 in 120 chance that the staff, armor, or orbs will fall.

Since her regular drop table isn’t very good, she can only make money from special drops.

Using the numbers above, you could get between 3.8 million and 4 million gold per hour this way, making her the best thing to kill for money, as long as you get lucky with her drops.
