What Are Clue Scrolls in OSRS & How to Get Them?

Clue scrolls, which are also called Treasure Trails, are a set of riddles and puzzles that lead you all over Old School RuneScape.

What Types of Clues Exist?

Easy clue scrolls are best obtained in the HAM hideout, and can be pickpocketed from members with relative ease. A high thieving level will make this task a lot simpler.

Medium clue scrolls can either be obtained from Eclectic Implings, which can be bought and looted, or from Falador guards. Having the Falador medium diary completed will increase the odds of a clue scroll dropping as well.

Hard Clues are best to get from Hellhounds, since this is their only other drop besides bones. And they’re easy to take out with little effort.

You can substantially increase the odds of getting a hard clue scroll drop by using a Ring of Wealth (i) in the Wilderness on these Hellhounds.

Elite clues are a bit trickier, as they’re generally only obtainable from bosses. The boss that drops elites the most is Sarachnis, who’s fairly easy to kill, and has a drop rate of 1/60. So this would be the fastest way to obtain elite clues.

Alternatively, raids like the Chamber of Xeric provide clue scrolls at a fairly decent rate too.

Master clue scrolls, as previously mentioned, can only be obtained by trading other clues to Watson.

Which Clue Levels Are The Best?

Medium, hard, and master clues are the best ones to do.

Most OSRS players think that they are the best because they give the best rewards and don’t take too much time.

Most people look for medium signs to find Ranger Boots, which are worth about 35m. So, they are definitely something that people want.

Most players think that medium clues can be a good way to make money if they occasionally get the desired Ranger Bot drop. This is because these clues are usually quick and easy to solve.

Hard clues give steady cash and things that can be traded, like runes. This makes them great for ironmen who need cash.

These hard hints also lead to God Dragonhide, which is a very useful piece of ranged armor. And these hard-level signs can drop gilded gear and the highly sought-after 3rd Age Armor Set.

I hope you can see that it is possible to make a lot of money very quickly with hard hint scrolls.

Master secrets are mostly done by people who want to make a lot of money or get the very rare Bloodhound pet, which only drops once in 1000 times.
