Is Sea Of Thieves on PS4

Is Sea Of Thieves on PS4?

Sea of Thieves, Rare’s swashbuckling pirate action-adventure game, was released for PC and Xbox One in 2018.

Currently, it is playable on those platforms plus Xbox Series X|S. But is it on PS4? Will it ever come to PlayStation 4 or PS5?

The short answer to both questions is that Sea of Thieves is not on PS4 and probably won’t be on PS4 or PS5 ever.

That’s because Xbox Game Studios owns Rare, and it’s almost impossible for an Xbox Game Studios game to come out on a Sony platform.

GamesIndustry.biz reported in 2019 that Microsoft has in the past let games that came out first on PC and Xbox consoles come out on other consoles to meet “existing commitments.”

However, they “have no plans to further expand [they are] exclusive first-party games to other consoles.”

Since then, Microsoft has kept doing that, likely to improve its first-party games, which have been criticised for being too small for a long time.

Games like Starfield, which is being made by Xbox Game Studios subsidiary Bethesda, will only be available on PC and Xbox consoles when it comes out in late 2022.

Microsoft’s strategy doesn’t surprise me at all, since very few Sony-only games have come out on PC.

This year, Bend Studio’s Days Gone came out on PC, and Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn will come out on PC on August 7, 2020.

They aren’t likely to ever come out on an Xbox console.

So you can’t play Sea of Thieves on either PS4 or PS5 right now. Sea of Thieves can only be played on a PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S.

The game costs $39.99, but Xbox Game Pass includes it for free on both consoles and PCs. The standard version of Game Pass costs $9.99 per month, while Game Pass Ultimate costs $14.99 per month.

Sea Of Thieves PS4 Alternative

If you just can’t hold yourself back for some pirate game action, then there is something that PS4 players can look forward to.

Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC later in 2018. It’s a tactical action game in which you play as a pirate captain and set sail across the Indian Ocean.

Okay, so it’s maybe not the news you’re looking for, but you might as well get any hope of a Sea of Thieves PS4 release out of your head. It’s simply never going to happen. Or you could just buy an Xbox One, or boot it up on PC!

In Sea of Thieves, players command a pirate ship across a shared game world and complete missions, raid forts and ships, and use gold to upgrade their ships.

Though the reception to the game from reviewers was mixed, it apparently has a very large audience of players.
