Sastasha is the game’s first dungeon, accessible at level 15.
However, a more challenging version of the dungeon is unlocked at level 50. The Sastasha difficulty mode introduces new foes, dungeon dynamics, and loot.
You must complete the level 50 quest “It’s Pirates” to gain access to Sastasha (Hard). Bloezong at Revenant’s Toll, Mor Dhona, is where you’ll receive this mission (X:22.1, Y:8.7).
Unlocking Instructions

- Finish the “The Ultimate Weapon” main scenario quest at level 50.
- You can start the “It’s Pirates” quest by going to Revenant’s Toll and talking to Bloezoeng in Mor Dhona (X:22.1, Y:8.7).
- Talk to Reyner in the Upper Decks at Limsa Lominsa (X:11.0, Y:6.0)
- Talk to D’perjha in the western part of La Noscea (X:28.2, Y:21.5)
Detailed Unlock Guide Walkthrough

After you finish “The Ultimate Weapon,” a level 50 Main Scenario Quest, go to Mor Dhona and look for Bloezoeng at (X:22.1, Y:8.7). “It’s Definitely Pirates” is the name of the quest he will offer.
Bloezoeng will tell you that Commodore Reyner of the Yellowjackets needs an adventurer once you accept the quest.
Go to Limsa Lominsa and use the aethernet to get to the Marauder’s Guild, where you can talk to Reyner. This should take you right outside the Coral Tower on the Upper Decks, where you can find the Commodore (X:11.0, Y:6.0).
Reyner says that he thinks another group of pirates has moved into the caverns after the Serpent Reavers were driven out of Sastasha.
Reyner says that a group of explorers tried but failed to find and kill whatever is now in the caverns.
At this point, you’re told to talk to D’perjha, the guard who stands outside the entrance to Sastasha. Take the aetheryte to Aleport in the western part of La Noscea, and then go north from there to find D’perjha at (X:28.2, Y:21.5).
D’perjha tells you that the group of adventurers who were sent in before you ran out after about a minute. Because of this, they still don’t know what’s inside the dungeon, so the Warrior of Light will go in without knowing what’s there.
After you talk to D’perjha, the Duty Finder will show Sastasha (Hard) as a choice.
Benefits of Unlocking Sastasha (Hard)

When you unlock a new dungeon in a game, you usually get new loot and maybe a little bit of a new story.
Even though Sastasha (Hard) has a nice little story and some new items, there are other, less obvious benefits to unlocking it.
Any Good Loot?

Just like in other FFXIV dungeons, players will find several treasure chests while running through Sastasha (Hard).
Here are some of the things you might find in these coffers:

From Kakalan in Mor Dhona, you can trade the old items for gear for your level 50 job (X:22.3, Y:5.6).
Note that these are the same pieces of gear you get when you finish a level 50 job quest and get a job attire coffer as a reward.
Level 50/60/70/80 Roulette

This is one of the many Duty Roulettes you can unlock in the game. It puts you in a random situation. When you finish a duty roulette, you’ll get an extra daily reward.
As the name suggests, this roulette will put you in a random dungeon of levels 50, 60, 70, or 80.
To get this, you need to have unlocked at least two dungeons that are part of the pool of possible instances.
Since Sastasha (Hard) is a level 50 dungeon, it will count toward this requirement.
Using the Level 50/60/70/80 roulette gives you either 100 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics or 120 Allagan Tomestones of Aphorism every day, depending on what level job you used.
Wondrous Tails

The Heavensward expansion added a new feature called “Wondrous Tails.” It gives you optional goals for the week that can earn you useful things like Allagan Tomestones, MGP, and big chunks of experience points.
One of the things you can do for your weekly goals is to finish a level 50 dungeon.
Again, this is true of Sastasha (Hard), so it will count toward your Wondrous Tails progress.
You can get a key item called a “Wondrous Tails Journal” from Khloe Aliapoh. This is where the goals are written down. Idyllshire is where she is found (X:5.7, Y:6.1).
Relic Weapons

In FFXIV, you usually have to go through a very long and boring process to get a relic weapon.
Some people still like to grind out old relic weapons to use as glamorous, even though their stats are very out of date.
At some points in the process, the player has to finish certain instances to move forward with their relic grind.
If Sastasha (Hard) is easy, quick, or fun to finish, it could be a good choice for this part of your relic quests.
