If you were looking for multiplayer in Hogwarts Legacy, I’m sorry, but it’s a single-player RPG, so I doubt we’ll see lobbies any time soon.
But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t choices with a mod, at least for PC players. But if you’re playing on a computer, it’s just you and the NPCs you meet along the way.
Keep an eye on Yomahi’s HogWarp mod if you want to play online Hogwarts Legacy on PC, though.
This mod, like Skyrim Together, makes it possible for people with PC versions of Hogwarts Legacy to play the game with their friends.
It’s still in early access, but you have to pay for it on Patreon, and it doesn’t look like it’s been updated in a long time.
Here’s what Avalanche Software has told us about the lack of multiplayer in Hogwarts Legacy, including whether or not it’s planned for future patches or DLC.
Is Hogwarts Legacy Multiplayer?
No, Hogwarts Legacy does not have any way to play with other people, either online or offline. This is written in the official FAQ and comes straight from the authors.
The official Hogwarts Legacy FAQ says, “Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player game; you can’t play it online or with other people.”
From the developer streams and game play demos before the game came out, it was always clear that Hogwarts Legacy would never have multiplayer.
Before the game came out, articles and FAQs made it clear that this wasn’t possible, and now that the game is out, it’s clear that there’s no multiplayer.
You won’t be alone, though, because you can make friends with other kids at Hogwarts. On some quests, you can play with other characters in the game, and your relationship with them will change as you go through the game.
You can’t just ask these companions to join you whenever you want, though, because they can only do their set tasks.
It might not be as good as having real friends with you, but at least you’ll make friends at Hogwarts and learn more about these important figures.
People have said and written bad things about the release of Hogwarts Legacy because of J.K. Rowling’s public views on gender identity, which continue to challenge the idea that everyone is welcome in the Harry Potter community.
Multiplayer Mod in the Works
Even though Avalanche Software probably doesn’t have a co-op mode planned for Hogwarts Legacy, PC players may be in luck.
Together Team, a well-known group of modders, just said that they are working on a project called HogWarp to add multiplayer to the game.
HogWarp is still in early access, so right now it’s only available to people who support The Together Team on Patreon. However, the early tests that the team showed look good.
This mod is only for PC players, so mobile players will have to play Hogwarts Legacy alone.
If you’re interested in the HogWarp mod, keep an eye on The Together Team’s YouTube channel for more information on how it’s coming along.
Are there companion characters in Hogwarts Legacy?
Hogwarts Legacy won’t be a completely solo experience, though. Several non-player characters (NPCs) were shown for the first time in the game’s long new video, which you can watch below.
On the FAQ page, it says, “Some Hogwarts students will make friends. As players get to know these classmates better, they will become friends who can go with them on their journey, give them new skills, and show more of themselves as players learn their stories.
“There are also a lot of beasts from the Hogwarts Legacy in the game. On the FAQ page, it was revealed that you can “tame, mount, and ride” some of these animals, which should help wizards who are lonely.
